The ECRUL Project Management Unit, together with the Gender Expert, conducted an awareness session on Sexual Harassment and the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse for site engineers of Thimphu Thromde, contractors, and foreign workers at the ongoing rehabilitation works of Primary Drain II on 29 May 2026.
The session focused on promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment by enhancing awareness on:
✔ Forms of sexual harassment
✔ Response and reporting mechanisms
✔ Impacts of sexual harassment
✔ Relevant legal frameworks
✔ Labour and Employment Act of Bhutan 2007 and Regulation on Sexual Harassment 2022
✔ Operating procedures and guiding principles for handling cases
✔ Other forms of workplace harassment
✔ Available support services
The awareness session reaffirmed the project’s commitment to promoting dignity, respect, and zero tolerance towards all forms of harassment and exploitation in the workplace.
